Leveling in WoW

Leveling in WoW generally takes a lot of time and patience. At least it used to for me anyways. The first step usually starts off by trying to figure out which quests to do first so people look  them up on Thottbott or what have you then decide which order they want to do them. The problem, though, is that the game is designed to make you take your time leveling so that you keep paying them from month to month and you end up doing quests that don’t get you very far or traveling across the same zone half a dozen times for instance. So how does one speed up the questing process? Well, here’s a leveling guide for WoW that might help you with your journey.

Questing, or Dungeons?

There are actually two main ways for leveling in WoW fast that one must consider before continuing. These are through questing or completing dungeons. The one that you pick is usually determined by other goals, such as if you want to also be making gold while you level, choices relating to your gear, how well you know your class such as what rotations to use as you gain the skills, where you put your talent points… quite a lot for leveling in WoW.

The Easiest way

The easiest way for leveling in WoW is questing, and doing it solo, so that all you have to worry about is yourself. When you go the questing route, though, you have to be careful which quests to select and which quests to ignore. Better gear is a nice reward but sometimes its a distraction for getting you to do a quest that will have you traveling all over. Try to look at all the quests where you’re at first and map out a path that will help you just make one circle around the zone so that you can turn them all in when you get back to the quest giver. It’s amazing how many people actually one accept one quest a time. Picking them all up and doing a full circle will increase your speed while leveling in WoW by quite a bit. Ignore the ones that take you to other zones until your ready to go there and only if it happens to be that that’s the next best place to level at.

The Tougher Way

Leveling in WoW can also be done by doing dungeons. Grouping with others and completing them is better than questing as far as speed. What makes it more tough than questing is that everyone has to work together to be able to finish them. So everyone has to know how to play their characters, know where to spend the talent points that they’ve earned so far, know what skill rotations to use with what is currently available to them at their level, and then everyone has to play their part together. So more research on your class is required to go through dungeons but pays off better both experience and gear wise. Doing research really pays off, though, as going through dungeons is definitely a faster way of leveling in WoW than questing is.

The Combo Deal

One thing about leveling in WoW through dungeons are the long queue times, providing you’re a DPS class since tanks and healers generally get in fast. If you do happen to be a DPS class then the best use of your down time is to do the solo questing in between if your current dungeon group isn’t going on a string of instance runs. Putting these two together in this fashion helps to maximize your down time and keep you leveling in WoW quickly.

Leveling in WoW by Fund-raising

Yes, unfortunately, leveling in WoW fast means you’re at some point going to have to spend money. It’s required for buying the best gear once you hit level cap. It is inevitable that you’ll need gold to buy new gear or mats for gear so that you can make it or pay someone else to. A few other things that gold is needed for is to buy new skills and a mount when you’re a high enough level to use it. Both of these things are needed for quick leveling in WoW.  How to make gold in WoW is not the point of this article so I will eventually be writing a WoW gold making guide.

WoW Leveling Guide Add-ons

There are actually ways to complement your leveling in WoW through dungeons and questing. These ways would be the use of add-ons, or small mini-programs that can be downloaded into your World of Warcraft directory that are accessible while in the game. Many of these add-ons are totally legal too. In other words they don’t violate the EULA agreement so you’re allowed to use them for leveling in WoW.

Questhelper

The main add-on that helps the most for leveling in WoW is called questhelper. It actually keeps track of the quests that you’ve accepted and tells you where on the map that the objectives are. This really helps eliminating a lot of the guesswork too. This is a must have add-on for leveling in WoW.

DBM a.k.a. Data Boss Mods

DBM is your other main add-on that helps with dungeons. What it does is help you know when something is currently happening or is going to happen. For instance if you’re standing in fire it will let you know so you can move or if a boss is going to use a skill then it will warn you so you know when to use particular skills. It’s good in every dungeon in the game and when raiding with any guilds most require that you have it or you wont be allowed to go with them. Therefore, it is extremely important to have this when leveling in WoW.

Auctioneer

This one isn’t necessarily absolutely needed but it does come highly recommended. Since making gold is something that is really helpful for leveling in WoW then this add-on is extremely useful. What it does is give you a better interface to see current auctions and helps you set your selling prices. It will also help with searching for things that you can buy and resell later for profit. Of course another good part about it is that it keeps track of your profits and losses on each item so that you can make decisions off of that.

Add-on Sources

Where can one get the best add-ons for leveling in WoW? Well, there are two places that most people get them and a whole boatload of others too. Anyone can make an add-on and offer it through these two sources. The first one we will talk about is completely free and the second one is free for basic use but costs a little bit for a better membership but is not needed for proper leveling in WoW.

Wow-Matrix

Wow-Matrix can be downloaded and installed just like any other program. It is basically a search program that searches a database of different add-ons and it will give you a description on what they do. Through its interface you can download and install them so it makes it so easy that it’s not funny. Later on you can come back and check for updates and install them as well with only a few clicks. This helps you save your time to actually do some leveling in WoW instead of trying to figure out how to install everything or what site to get the correct update from or worrying if that site has malware.

Curse

This is the same as WoW-Matrix in that it is a program that you can install that searches a database. It will also do updates too, but in the free membership it will make you update them one a time instead of all at once. So you can download, install, and update add-ons for free, it’s just that the better more convenient features are only available for a fee. I don’t mind updating them one at a time so I’ve never bothered paying for the extra features since I don’t need them.

Leveling in WoW the Fastest

The absolute fastest way to level in WoW is the same as the best way to do anything in any hobby, be shown how to do it by a professional step by step. Believe it or not this can be done for World of Warcraft too. There are a few people out there that created an in-game add-on that you can install whose function is similar to quest helper. This add-on is key to leveling in WoW fast.  Instead of showing you where the objectives of accepted quests are, it actually tells you where to go and what quests to accept in the right order for the fastest questing path possible. If you really want to know how to level fast in WoW it will even tell you what materials you’ll need to buy to complete the zone your in before you start. So it’s actually possible to be leveling in WoW faster by solo questing than doing dungeons with this type of add-on. This is because it helps make better use of your time so that you can get to the endgame content quicker. I have tried a couple different add-ons and they each have pros and cons to make one better at one thing and another better at another thing. As far as leveling in WoW, though, I really recommend investing in the Xelerated Warcraft Guide. For them, I would just get their leveling guide because in my opinion it has the best information on each quest and was easy to follow and find things. With it, they claim that leveling in WoW can be done in 4 days played time although I’ve only managed it in slightly less than 5 with their guide. You can get their guide just for Horde, Alliance, or both so that you only have to pay for what you need. The leveling guide does include a talent and mount guide as well for maximum performance. My favorite part about it, is that it even works with current characters and heirloom items too. They even offer a free trial which is a good way to start if you’re not sure that it’s for you. This is definitely the fastest way for leveling in WoW so if you can invest in it then I suggest purchasing this add-on.
